FAQs

What do you Charge?
A range of fees is outlined on each service page. Chesapeake Career Management Services takes pride in providing customized, highly specialized service backed by more than 10 years of experience, advanced credentials, and continuing education. For the best value, we recommend a bundled package of services with the minimum level of investment starting at $1000, but fees can exceed $2000 depending upon individual needs and depth of services.

How do I get started?
Use the contact form on the web site or E-mail your résumé. Please include the best phone number/time to call in your email along with some specifics of your career/job search goals. We’ll determine if my services are a good fit, discuss pricing, and if you want to move forward, I’ll send a written price quote. Sign and return the price quote and I’ll follow up from there.

How long will it take?
Ideal turn-around time for document development could range from one to three weeks after the interview. The volume of work fluctuates and during peak periods there could be a wait list. This is a collaborative partnership and getting the job done right is more important than getting the job done fast. Projects requiring less than a seven business day turn-around will incur a $500-$700 RUSH fee. ALL projects require a minimum three to five-day turn-around.

How does the process work?
Whether we are creating a resume portfolio or doing coaching, we will schedule a meeting by appointment. We can work by telephone, video calls, or in-person appointments if you are local.

For resume services, you will complete and return a questionnaire prior to our scheduled interview. The interview will take 1-2 hours and work begins on your project. You may be asked to submit other documents such as performance evaluations, job descriptions, and job announcements. Your project gets into the pipeline and we email initial drafts to you when complete. We provide up to two revisions of written materials. All final materials are emailed.

What is your payment policy?
Payment is required in full no later than our scheduled first meeting. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Corporate Checks, Cashiers Checks, or Cash are acceptable forms of payment. Invoices are emailed out and payments can be made directly online through the secure merchant processing payment portal.

Do you offer appointments after hours or on weekends?
Appointments after 4:00 p.m. on weekdays are only available by phone or video calls. Usually I can be pretty flexible during the week so that the weekend is available for family obligations. I typically don’t offer weekend appointments.

Do you write federal resumes?
Only for GS-1811 federal law enforcement officers.

What certifications do you possess?

Certified Master Resume Writer (CMRW) is issued through Career Directors International. Currently there are fewer than 35 of us in the world. Certification requires the submission of an extensive portfolio that is reviewed by Master Resume Writers around the world. Re-certification comprised of a portfolio and continuing education units (CEUs) is required every three years to ensure my skills meet specific standards.

Certified Career Management Coach (CCMC) is a 32-hour International Coaches Federation approved Career Coach Training Program through The Academies. It requires re-certification every two years through a course refresher or accumulation of CEUs.

Certified Federal Job Search Trainer (CFJST) is a federal job application training program based upon the principles outlined in the book Ten Steps to a Federal Job by Kathryn Troutman. Initial certification was obtained in 2004 and recertification was obtained in 2009. I have adapted the information based upon current federal hiring trends and have customized the training for individual clients and small group instruction, but do not provide specific training on the Ten Steps to a Federal Job licensed training curriculum.

Do you work with career re-entry or professionals in transition?

Yes, we have experience working with professionals in career transition including moms and dads re-entering the job market after a voluntary absence, retirees re-entering the market, military/police personnel transitioning to civilian service, federal retirees seeking private sector opportunities, professionals with an extended absence due to a RIF or FMLA, etc. In cases where there has been an extended absence from the workforce and/or a major career transition, a package that includes coaching is strongly advised.

My project is not complicated. Can’t I just get you to tweak my resume? Can’t I just get a simple, inexpensive, generic resume?
Your project is more complicated than you think and there is no such thing as a generic resume. Chesapeake Career Management Services provides expert services to professionals seeking to advance their careers and invest in themselves.

Do you offer guarantees?
Individual outcome of your investment is contingent upon your diligence, determination, network, and career goals. Chesapeake Career Management Services will provide you with the best portfolio we can based upon the information you supply. We cannot predict hiring managers’ decisions and your job search results will vary according to market needs and fluctuations.

We offer additional coaching, and other resources such as e-books, blog articles, and videos through the web site and e-news letters to give you every possible advantage to help you outperform your competition.
